AIXM 5 Obstacle Viewer (eTOD)

Electronic Terrain and obstacle data (eTOD) as specified by Amendment 33 of ICAO Annex 15 is a highly relevant topic within the aeronautical information management domain. Detailed obstacle information is crucial for Performance Based Naviation (PBN) and is currently being discussed intensively.

COMSOFT's AIXM 5 database CADAS-AIMDB imports and manages obstacles from virtually any source. The obstacle viewer displays objects stored in the AIXM 5 database and thus it gives a quick overview of the objects in a given airspace. The real-life data set used as input data for the depicted example screenshot contains a number of AIXM 5 VerticalStructures which displays the location and height of objects as vertical bars in a 3-dimensional map. More complex obstacle geometries will displayed in case of complex AIXM 5 objects. The zoom factor and the viewing angle onto the 3-dimensional map can be easily changed to explore the terrain.
